Power Management
Everyone wants their battery-powered devices to last longer between charges. Intrinsyc helps manufacturers build devices that sip at the power and still deliver the robust performance that end users demand. We’ve made a specialty of developing efficient methods of power management for converged devices.
Increasing power demands
The trends in converged devices all point to greater power requirements. There is a growing emphasis on the user experience that demands more pixels and heavier use of graphics and multimedia content. Meanwhile the convergence of connectivity puts more and more radios and receives in a single device: telephony, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth start to be joined by GPS, television, FM radio, and others surely on the way. All these peripherals require power.
Increasing complexity
Power management strategies become more complex as devices become more sophisticated. Advanced silicon chipsets with variable levels of power consumption, high level operating systems with numerous power states, and converged wireless devices with expanding sets of feature and peripherals – all these factors add to the engineering complexity.
We have answers
Over the years, Intrinsyc has accumulated expertise in optimizing battery life on mobile devices without compromising the user experience. With our in-depth understanding of the leading application processors’ architectures and our OS-level power management expertise, we help manufacturers deliver energy efficient, leading edge products.
We focus in particular on ARM9 and ARM11 core application processors. We can build production quality BSPs to optimize the power consumption at the system level. We also work with ARM’s Intelligent Energy Management (IEM) solution to collect kernel level data, which we then use with multiple power management policies.
